Sunnyside man arrested after 105-mph chase

YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash. -- A Sunnyside man was arrested Tuesday night after he led police on a pursuit through Grandview and Sunnyside that reached top speeds of more than 100 mph.

Grandview police officers say they tried to stop Joel Ramos for speeding just after 10:45 p.m. on East Wine Country Road. They followed his car into Sunnyside, where Sunnyside police joined the chase.

The pursuit lasted about 45 minutes. It ended when Ramos collided with a Sunnyside Police Department vehicle, disabling his car.

No one was injured in the chase, but two police cars were damaged.

Ramos was booked into the Grandview City Jail. He is charged with driving under the influence, attempting to elude a police vehicle, and driving on a suspended license. He also had a previous warrant out for his arrest.

A 24-year-old passenger, also from Sunnyside, was arrested for obstructing a police officer and resisting arrest.
