Sunfair Parade to takeover streets of downtown Yakima
YAKIMA, Wash. - Yakima city officials want you to know of some road closures during the annual Yakima Sunfair Parade.
The parade will begin it's usual route through downtown Yakima at 10 a.m. Saturday, causing parking to be prohibited on Yakima Avenue between 16th and Naches beginning at 8 a.m.
Retired car dealer Bob Hall is acting as a grand marshal for the 56th annual parade which is expected to last roughly three hours.
City leaders said no parking would be allowed at side streets along the parade route as the parade is underway.
A section of 16th Avenue between Summitview and Nob Hill will also be closed to traffic as parade floats and acts begin lining up around 6 a.m.
Yakima Transit will not start bus service on any routes until 12:45 p.m., Saturday. Special shuttles to State Fair Park will run as scheduled during the parade.
Yakima Sunfair Parade is coordinated by the Yakima Sunfair Festival Association, according to a press release from the city.
