Small Business Saturday

YAKIMA, Wash. -- As we get closer into the holidays, more people are out shopping for gifts. Small Business Saturday follows Black Friday and is meant to encourage people to shop at local mom and pop boutiques. Local store owners say you'd think Black Friday would boost sales for all business, but that isn't always the case.

"Littler businesses think they're going to be a part of it because they just assume it's the holidays and then at the end of the day, it's like no one came in and you kind of got left out. It kind of becomes a big chain holiday, said New Yak City co-owner Gabe Figges.

Shopping at small businesses also helps the local economy, because these businesses tend to invest back into their communities.
