Skewered Apple BBQ Competition

SELAH, Wash. -- One lucky winner is going home with a $25,000 prize. The national Skewered Apple BBQ competition was held this weekend at the Tree Top in Selah. More than 5,000 people came out to watch the cook-off as well as to enjoy the live music, drinks and to eat great tasting BBQ.

One competitor says he loves the atmosphere and that's why he keeps coming back.

"Everybody that you meet. I mean we're down here with 67 of the best teams in the Northwest and Canada so you can't ask for anything better than to come down cook good food, hang out with your friends. It's a great time," said competitor Larry Hoots.

The event coordinator told Action News that the two day event brought in about $100,000.
