Six people shot at a party near Toppenish MGN

TOPPENISH, Wash. - Half a dozen people are recovering from gunshot wounds today after a party police say ended in violence.

Early Tuesday morning the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office says it was notified of a shooting with multiple victims in the 8000 block of Lateral C Road near Toppenish.

Ambulances took six people to nearby hospitals.

Police said before shots were fired two women at the party got involved in a fight. Shortly after the fight ended, police said an 18-year-old man got a shotgun loaded with birdshot and fired several times into the crowd, hitting at least six people.

The Yakima County Sheriff’s Office says the shooter, Julian Luis Gonzales, fled in a vehicle but was later stopped by police and arrested.

Gonzales faces assault and drive-by shooting charges. Officials said his bail is set at $200,000.

According to the sheriff’s office the injuries range from very minor to major, though none of the gunshots are believed to be life threatening.

A 25-year-old woman from White Swan

A 22-year-old man from Toppenish

A 19-year-old man from Pasco

An 18-year-old man from Pasco
