Sheriff's detectives searching for suspects in deadly Wapato shooting
WAPATO, Wash. - Sheriff’s deputies are seeking information in a shooting that led to a Wapato man’s death and another man injured.
The Yakima County Sheriff's Office reported William Gardipee was shot multiple times and killed Friday at Les Schwab, at the 400 block of W 1st. Street in Wapato, where a second man was shot in the leg.
Medics took 25-year-old Eric D. Martin, also of Wapato, to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for his injuries.
Reports said multiple people were involved in the shooting and ran away from the area. At this time, the sheriff's office cannot confirm how many people were involved.
Detectives are not certain if this incident is gang-related.
Sheriff's detectives searched a suspect's vehicle on the morning of February 7, but did not find any evidence in this shooting.
YCSO spokesperson Casey Schilperoort said this case could take a while to solve. He said YCSO is still working on leads as they come in.
