Seven injured in series of collisions north of Mabton

YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash. -- Seven people were injured Tuesday evening after a series of collisions involving six cars north of Mabton.

Washington State Patrol says the crashes occurred on State Route 241 around milepost 1 just after 5 p.m. Troopers say several vehicles entered a dust storm at speeds too fast for the conditions and ran into other vehicles that had already slowed down.

Six cars were involved in the collisions. Three of the drivers and three passengers, including a 1-year-old boy, were taken to local hospitals for treatment. A fourth driver had only minor injuries.
