Semi-truck fire temporarily closes I-90 near Thorp

KITTITAS COUNTY, Wash. -- The eastbound lanes of Interstate 90 were closed for several hours near Thorp Wednesday after a semi-truck caught fire and blocked traffic.

It happened just before 10:45 a.m. about five miles west of Ellensburg. Washington State Patrol says the truck went onto a guardrail then came to rest in the right lane.

The highway was closed to eastbound drivers for more than an hour. Traffic was still congested into the evening as crews removed the truck in sections.

The driver, 33-year-old Kusi Youns of Sterling Heights, Michigan, was injured in the incident but did not need to go to the hospital. He was cited for negligent driving.
