School supplies donated to needy Yakima students

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Yakima elementary students got free school supplies today. It'll help them get ready for a successful school year.

Five local credit unions pulled together about 10,000 dollars in school supplies. They used the money to fill a thousand folders with materials like crayons, rulers, and paper. All were delivered to Ridgeview Elementary School this morning making the kids very happy.

"Thank you for giving us the school supplies for our school and I appreciate you guys," said Ridgeview Elementary fifth grader Malachy Aparicio.

The school says the donations are needed.
