Room service menus now available for patients at Virginia Mason Memorial
YAKIMA, Wash. -- Patients at Virginia Mason Memorial now have better food options as part of the new room service program.
The program offers patients plenty of options from a variety of menus that fit their dietary needs.
Food is made on the Memorial campus and patients can choose when to eat their meals.
Memorial leaders say they wanted to focus on making healthy and tasty food for the people they serve.
"A lot of patients are put on specialized diets when they come in the hospital to help manage their disease. So one thing we've tried to do is make the menu really taste great because a lot of people come in, they're introduced to a new diet, they've never had to follow a diet before so we want them to know that they can also eat foods that tastes great." says senior manager for clinical nutrition services Katie Wolff.
Wolff says they were inspired to start room service after seeing how successful it's been for other hospitals across the country.
