Restrictions on Airsoft guns prohibit them in public
YAKIMA, Wash. -- KIMA looked into who can actually get their hands on an Airsoft gun.
State law requires all buyers to be 18 years and older. Minors can get one with an adult present when it is bought.
The same goes for ammunition.
What sets the Airsoft gun apart is its orange tip.
KIMA asked YPD how dangerous this could have been to the officer.
"Seeing the gun as presented, it was a threat," said YPD Spokesperson Capt. Rod Light.
State law also said it is illegal to show an Airsoft gun in public. They are only allowed in designated areas.
