Prosecutor's office needs more data to determine pretrial release a success
A recent study showed that Yakima County's pretrial release was doing good, but the county prosecutor isn't so sure.
Numbers show twenty percent more people are being let out of jail before their trial starts.
However, prosecuting attorney Joe Brusic said more people are being let go but they carry the same risk of committing more crimes or not showing up in court.
"Law enforcement at this particular moment is time is not convinced as well as the prosecutor’s office that we are any better off," he said.
Brusic said more time needs to pass before he can say if it has really helped.
