Police say woman stabbed is 'lucky to be alive'

YAKIMA, Wash. -- A Yakima woman came close to death after being slashed all over her body.

Police say she showed up to a Yakima hospital with wounds including gashes across the throat. She was treated and is listed in critical but stable condition.

"She was stabbed multiple times in the torso, she had at least two incisions in her neck, so ya she is lucky to be alive. It just as well could have been a homicide," said Tim Bardwell, Yakima Police Sergeant.

Bardwell says they are still looking for the suspect. They don't believe that person is a danger to the public.
