Police say distracted driving to blame for head-on collision
YAKIMA, Wash.-- Four people were sent to a local hospital.
Police say distracted driving is to blame.
It happened on the corner of S. 16th Ave. and Arlington Ave. a little after 2:00 P.M.
A car traveling southbound crossed over into northbound traffic, hitting one car, head-on.
“At this point, it’s still under investigation, but I believe it was probably distracted driving. It’s one of those things where not paying attention to which way you’re going and you do something different. You reach, you grab something, you turn the radio on, or anything like that; you go and grab a cell phone, this is more than likely what happened here,” said Sgt. Rich Fowler of the Yakima Police Department.
Traffic was backed up for a bit, but the accident has since been cleared.
Police advise drivers to focus completely on driving, especially given the road conditions.
