WALLA WALLA NEWS RELEASE -- A Walla Walla PD Patrol Officer suffered a broken ankle early this morning while attempting to arrest a fleeing felon. The officer had contacted a suspicious subject at about 1:00 a.m. in the area of Main and Colville Streets. The officer checked the subject, Devon R.P. Millar, 20, for warrants. A short time later, Dispatch advised the officer of a felony warrant for Millar's arrest out of Walla Walla County. Millar fled while the officer was attempting to take him into custody.
Millar jumped into the Mill Creek channel off of Colville. The officer also entered the channel, resulting in the injury. The officer was assisted out of the channel by another officer and taken to a local hospital where an examination revealed the break.
Millar has not been arrested at this time and will be looking at additional charges when apprehended.
