Police investigate shooting death at Cherry Avenue as a homicide
YAKIMA, Wash. - Police say a man has been found dead in a house with a gunshot wound.
The Yakima Police Department (YPD) was responding to an unrelated call when two females flagged an officer down around 3:30 p.m., Thursday to report an adult man who was discovered dead in a home near the intersection Cherry Ave. and Oregon Ave.
Police said the victim, a 23-year-old Redmond David Apodaca, was found with a gunshot wound but don’t know if this shooting is gang-related.
Action News has learned the victim is a known gang member. This shooting will be investigated as a homicide, according to police.
Officers secured the scene and stayed in the area to investigate this death, according to YPD spokesperson Mike Bastinelli.
Police are working to gather more information.
