Police identify Safeway parking lot shooting suspect

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Yakima police say they have the man wanted for Thursday's shooting in a Safeway parking lot. They identified him as 37-year-old Anastacio Lepe.

Captain Rod Light issued a statement that the suspect turned himself in to the police department on Saturday and that he will likely be charged with first degree assault. He will make his first court appearance this week.

Police say it all started when the suspect got in an argument with another man over a cell phone. It ended with Jaime Partida being shot twice.

Investigators say a witness at the scene with his own gun stepped in and stopped the shooting from getting worse. Partida is being treated at a hospital in Seattle.
