Police: Boy tries to rob Yakima gas station at knifepoint

YAKIMA, Wash. -- On Tuesday morning shortly after 10 a.m., a 17 year old male entered the Nob Hill Fuel Station Mart and approached the employee with a knife. He jumped over the counter, grabbed the employee and demanded money. The employee fled the mart through a side door and the suspect followed. The suspect then fled the area. No money was taken in this incident.
Yakima Police officers observed the suspect a few blocks away and chased him on foot. The suspect jumped a fence and was soon caught by YPD officers in a backyard in the 1100 Blk of S. 20th Avenue.
There were no injuries to the officers or the suspect during the arrest. The suspect was booked into the Yakima Juvenile Detention Facility. An investigation on this incident is continuing.
