Pedestrian hit by two cars; dies one month later
BENTON COUNTY, Wash. -- Troopers say a 21-year-old Yakima man died after he was hit by two separate vehicles while he walked in the middle of a busy highway.
Washington State Patrol says Jesse Nickens was walking in the roadway on SR 397 on the night of November 10 when the vehicles struck him.
[UPDATE, Dec. 13] WSP Trooper Chris Thorson said the 21-year-old died from his injuries Monday, just over a month after the accident.
Troopers say two cars were heading north on SR 397 at mile post 14, near Kennewick, when they hit Nickens.
Medics rushed Nickens to Kadlec Medical Center.
Hospital staff confirm they are treating a trauma patient but could not release an update on the patient's condition.
According to an accident report, no charges have been filed in this matter.
