Overnight temperatures to drop; Freeze Warning issued in Yakima Valley

YAKIMA VALLEY, Wash. - Dropping temperatures have caused an overnight Freeze Warning in areas of Washington and Oregon.

The National Weather Service (NWS) out of Pendleton issued the Freeze Warning to take effect midnight Wednesday through 9 a.m. Thursday as temperatures drop at night.

Areas impacted by the warning include the Yakima Valley, Simcoe Highlands, and North Central Oregon to Southern Blue Mountains.

Temperatures are expected to drop to the upper 20s to low 30s Wednesday night, according to NWS leaders.

Weather officials said these cold conditions could kill sensitive vegetation. Outdoor plants and gardens should be protected to prevent freeze damage.
