OSP: 3 hurt in crash near Milton-Freewater

OSP NEWS RELEASE -- Three people were injured, one seriously, Wednesday afternoon in a two-vehicle traffic crash at the intersection of Ferndale Road and Highway 11 near Milton-Freewater. Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation.

On December 26, 2012 at approximately 1:45 p.m., a 2003 Dodge Neon driven by JAMES R. BADGETT, age 80, from Milton-Freewater was traveling on Ferndale Road and failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection with Highway 11. As the Dodge entered the intersection it was struck in the passenger side by a northbound 1992 Honda driven by JESSE L. FIELD, age 19, from Milton-Freewater.

BADGETT was initially transported by ambulance to Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla before being transferred by air ambulance to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He is reported in critical condition.

JESSE FIELD was not injured. Two passengers were transported to Walla Walla General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. They are identified as right front passenger JOSEPH M. FIELD II, age 24, from Milton-Freewater, and left rear passenger JEREMIAH J. FIELD, age 18, from College Place, Washington.

OSP was assisted at the scene by Umatilla County Sheriff's Office, East Umatilla County Rural Fire Department, and ODOT. OSP Senior Trooper Dan Chichester is the lead investigator.
