Ore. woman critically hurt in crash with trailer full of Christmas trees
ESTACADA, Ore. - A 22-year-old woman was critically injured when her car crashed into a trailer full of Christmas trees near Estacada Sunday morning.
The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office said Danielle Battles of Estacada was driving at a high speed on South Springwater Road when she rear-ended the trailer near Eaden Road in rural Clackamas County around 8 a.m.
Deputy Mark Nikolai said it appeared Battles was using her phone while driving before the crash. The crash is still under investigation.
Battles was flown by LifeFlight helicopter to Oregon Health and Science University in Portland. She is in critical condition.
The trailer was being pulled by a tractor owned by Eby Trees Unlimited, Nikolai said. The tractor was removing the trees from a field so they could be shipped and sold.
