One dead in I-90 crash near Cle Elum
KITTITAS COUNTY, Wash. - One person has died and three are injured in a crash involving a semi, Monday around 3:13 p.m.
Reports from Washington State Patrol (WSP) said Waiyakoon Pungprakearti, of Federal Way was driving a semi with a trailer eastbound on I-90 when he encountered slowing traffic three miles west of Cle Elum and attempted to move right.
The semi first rear-ended a Toyota Corolla, driven by 18-year-old Martin Cuali-Ramirez. The car spun around on impact and Cauli-Ramirez was injured and taken to Harborview, according to reports.
The semi then hit a Mini Cooper which crashed into a DOT fence. Two people inside were injured. Medics took driver Betzaida Mendoza and passenger Abraham Hernandez to Kittitas Valley Hospital.
Another person was killed in the wreck. Troopers said the victim's name could not be released before family members are notified.
WSP Troopers said no drugs or alcohol were involved in this crash.
