Northwest Harvest gets huge donation of fresh corn

YAKIMA, Wash. -- The Northwest Harvest donation center in Yakima received one of its largest donations on Monday: a semi-truck of corn!

The corn came from Hirai Farms.

National Frozen Foods donated labor and delivery.

It will be distributed to food banks in Yakima, Spokane and Kent.

"It's been very exciting. Our clients in the food bank lines get very excited over fresh produce. It's something they normally couldn't go to the store and buy themselves because of the expense, so this is wonderful, it's wonderful for everyone involved," said Sherri Bissell from Northwest Harvest.

Another donation is expected in October.

This will allow Northwest Harvest to distribute a quarter million pounds of corn this year.
