City Council unanimously voted for Day in the meeting Saturday night. Day comes from New Mexico where he worked as a county manager for six years. Sunnyside hasn't had a permanent city manager since last April. Day comes to Sunnyside as the town struggles with a tight budget. He said communication is a key in success.
"I believe a lot of the problems that have been accounted in the past are failure to communicate issues," said Donald Day. "There's got to be a way to communicate effectively."
Day will start his job in August. He wants to stay in Sunnyside for the long term.
