New Sunnyside city manager chosen

SUNNYSIDE, Wash. -- There is finally a new leader in town. Donald Day is the official new city manager in Sunnyside.

City Council unanimously voted for Day in the meeting Saturday night. Day comes from New Mexico where he worked as a county manager for six years. Sunnyside hasn't had a permanent city manager since last April. Day comes to Sunnyside as the town struggles with a tight budget. He said communication is a key in success.

"I believe a lot of the problems that have been accounted in the past are failure to communicate issues," said Donald Day. "There's got to be a way to communicate effectively."

Day will start his job in August. He wants to stay in Sunnyside for the long term.
