New lighting, security cameras coming to the Greenway

YAKIMA, Wash. -- The Yakima Police Department is working with Parks and Rec to make the Greenway safe from crime.

Coming up with a plan to bring to city council, they've targeted three Greenway entrances that need lighting and security cameras.

Improvements in the plan will go to entrances at Rotary Lake, Myron Lake and Naches River at 16th Avenue.

"Cameras would be great because it's just some kind of unsavory characters down there, so it's nice that we have this here," said Carmen Quesell who uses the Greenway.

It will cost almost $100,000. Each location will be more than $30,000.
