The Aging and Long Term Care Center is getting thousands of dollars to train its staff.
The new approach is client-driven as opposed to just giving information.
Counselors will work with patients of all ages to help them realize their needs and what resources they need to meet their goals.
"Their options will be a little more in depth. They will actually get to see more of the pros and cons of each thing and they'll get to look at what their goals are, what are their options, look at their income and make more of an educated decision," said Jackie Klingele, Local Program Coordinator at Aging and Long Term Care.
The training originates from the Affordable Care Act and focuses on putting the patient in the driver's seat.
