New $1,500 college scholarship

YAKIMA, Wash.-- Some students will be able to get some help paying for college from the Department of Transportation. High school juniors and seniors can get a college scholarship through DOT and the Wildlife Bridges Coalition. Students have to make a drawing or diagram of how they would design a wildlife overpass on I-90 along the Snoqualmie Pass project. They also need to write an essay that explains their project.

"I like that this scholarship encourages students to use their creativity more because it's making them design something, use their imagination, which doesn't really happen so much anymore," Sarah Cardenas, a YVCC Sophomore said.
