Naches River flood warning remains in effect until May 7
YAKIMA, Wash. -- The Naches River is currently in a flood stage, with a flood warning still in effect for the Yakima area until Sunday, May 7.
Crews with Yakima's Emergency Response Team were out Friday checking areas that are prone to flooding.
City officials said they will increase the number of responders as needed and put out sandbags to protect buildings and roads if necessary.
"That monitoring process will continue throughout the entire length of the flood warning when it is in effect," said Yakima city spokesperson Randy Beehler. "So our crews will be out monitoring those potential problem areas along the river where we've experienced flooding in the past."
City officials recommend that residents near the Naches River stay alert with updates available on the city's website.
