Museum honors Yakimanians with permanent exhibit

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Yakima is recognizing some of its best and brightest with a permanent exhibit at the Yakima Valley Museum that opens tonight. It celebrates Yakimanians who've been recognized for their accomplishments beyond the Valley.

It showcases memorabilia belonging to famous athletes and other celebrities who have ties here. The museum's curator showed KIMA his favorite.

"Football player Jake Kupp from the Yakima Valley," said Andy Granitto. "We were looking for odd souvenirs and we came across on eBay a 7-Eleven cup with Jake Kupp's picture on it. I was so excited, I immediately called the rest of the staff and said I found a Jake cup!"

Items from more than 30 accomplished locals are featured in the exhibit.
