Moxee teen killed in accidental shooting
YAKIMA, Wash. - A 16-year-old boy was shot and killed and police are saying it's an accident.
Police said the boy and his friends were playing with a gun when it went off and Juarez was shot.
The Yakima County Sheriff's Office (YCSO) responded to a call of shots fired in the 500 block of Chappel Lane in Moxee.
When officers arrived on scene, they found Juarez not breathing and he died on the scene.
Police said this was an accidental shooting, but they are not yet sure if it was Juarez or one of his friends who pulled the trigger.
Yakima County Coroner Jack Hawkins said Juarez was shot in the chest.
"The cause of death was exsanguination, which means he bled to death," Hawkins said. "Loss of blood due to a single gunshot wound to the chest."
YCSO is investigating this incident and taking statements from the teens involved.
