Mother and son suffer severe injuries after snowmobile accident
KITTITAS COUNTY, Wash.- A mother and son are recovering after being involved in a snowmobile accident Sunday afternoon.
According to the Kittitas County Sheriff's deputies, Karen Mayfield and her son, Benjamin Mayfield were riding a rented snowmobile just off Forest Service Road 4430 in the Ronald area when they hit a tree and they were both ejected.
Deputies, Search and Rescue, and medical personnel were all dispatched to the scene around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Both Karen and Benjamin were airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Officials at Harborview Medical say Karen is in critical condition in ICU, while Benjamin is in serious condition in ICU as well.
