Starting Monday night, Target Zero patrols will keep a closer watch on drunk drivers. State troopers, deputies, and city police will be out every night of the week. The Target Zero initiative goal is to eliminate all traffic-related deaths in the state by 2030.
"Our goal is to simple remove those individuals from our roadways that pose a danger to others because of their decision to drink and drive," said Washington State Patrol Chief John Batiste.
About 34 people die a year in the Yakima Valley in DUI cases.
