YAKIMA, Wash.-- Yakima hired a new consultant to get businesses involved with bringing more service to the Yakima Airport. City Council approved hiring a company called Airplanners. It will start by working to add more flights to and from Seattle. Airplanners will work with local businesses to invest in attracting new airlines.
"They've been in very different markets around the country where they've proven they could be successful in communities similar to Yakima, that's what distinguishes them," said Tony O'Rourke, Yakima City Manager.
The long-term goal is to add more airlines that fly to more cities like Denver and Salt Lake City.
