Missing swimmer feared dead in Yakima River
KITTITAS COUNTY SHERIFF NEWS RELEASE -- The Kittitas County Sheriff's Marine Unit is continuing the search for missing Ellensburg resident, Aaron Harrison, believed to have drown late Saturday afternoon on the Yakima River.
The 43 year old man was swimming with friends on the river, about halfway between Ellensburg and Selah, when he disappeared. One witness said he looked like he might have been struggling as he went out of sight around the point of the island where they were swimming.
Deputies searched the river with a Jet boat until dark, then resumed Sunday morning with 2 boats and ground teams along the shore.
Per Undersheriff Clayton Myers, 'we will continue to search the river and investigate Mr. Harrison's disappearance. Because no one actually saw him go under, we will investigate all avenues.'
Aaron Harrison is 5 feet 10 inches tall, 220 lbs, muscular, with blonde hair in a pony tail, last seen wearing a pair of black swimming trunks with a white stripe. If anyone has any information or has seen Aaron, please call Kittcom at (509) 925-8534.
