Man shot in overnight Yakima homicide
YAKIMA, Wash. -- A 33-year-old man is dead after being shot at an intersection Friday night, according to Yakima police.
Authorities haven't released the victim's identity as they still try to notify family members.
Police responded to a report of shots fired at the intersection of West Peach Street and Cornell Avenue at about 10:40 p.m. where they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound.
Neighbors told Action News off camera that they are scared and that the victim was about a half block from home on his bike when he was shot. They said he screamed for help.
Authorities said the victim was taken to Yakima Regional Medical Center where he died a short time later.
The victim was involved in some type of dispute with the suspect which led to the shooting, according to police. Authorities said the investigation is ongoing.
Yakima County coroner Jack Hawkins said an autopsy will be performed Monday. This is the city's ninth homicide for the year.
