Man killed in Sunnyside shooting identified

SUNNYSIDE, Wash. - Investigators have identified the Arizona man who was killed in a shooting that injured two other people.

Reports from the Yakima County Coroner's Office said 30-year-old Lance Ornelas, of Mesa, was killed after he was shot in the stomach on January 15, 11:29 p.m. at 240 Morse Road in Sunnyside.

A woman reported her boyfriend had been shot and went to Astria Sunnyside Hospital where Ornelas was pronounced dead.

Reports indicated two other people were injured in this incident. A 32-year-old man from the Moses Lake area was hurt, but is expected to survive.

Investigators learned another man from Sunnyside was injured and privately taken to a hospital in Kennewick.

Officials say a person of interest has been identified in this shooting.

The Yakima County Sheriff's Office Detective Bureau has gathered interviews from witnesses and continue to investigate this case.
