Police: Man connected to beating victim with metal bat arrested
YAKIMA, Wash. - A man is in Yakima County Jail after police said he made death threats towards another man who had been beaten with a baseball bat.
According to court documents, police found the victim near South 3rd Ave. and West Viola with a bloody face and the left side of his head swollen back in June.
The victim told police he was attacked while walking when someone came up from behind and struck him in the head with a metal baseball bat.
He was taken to Memorial Hospital for treatment of fractures to his skull, nose and pinky finger.
Police said Rigoberto Gomez Jr., 25, was with the victim when he was taken to the hospital.
The victim later informed police Gomez and the alleged attacker, 18-year-old Nathan Lewis, threatened to kill him with what he believed to be a gun after he was attacked with the bat, according to court documents.
Lewis has been arrested and faces assault and felony harassment charges. Gomez faces felony harassment charges.
