Man arrested in connection to Harlan Landing homicide
YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash.-- Yakima County deputies arrested a 28-year-old male in connection with Monday's homicide at Harlan Landing. Darren Wright has been booked in the Yakima County Jail for 1st degree assault and 2nd degree murder.
Wednesday morning, Yakima County Sheriff's detectives learned of Wright's identification. A WSP trooper contacted Wright Monday afternoon after a report of someone throwing rocks onto the highway between Selah and Yakima. He was released after being interviewed by a trooper.
Tuesday, Union Gap Police arrested Wright on charges of domestic assault. Wright's name was forwarded to deputies when the YSO description of a person of interest in the Harlan Landing homicide was released.
During an interview he claimed Johnson told him he would go to hell for his sins. According to court documents, Wright is very anti-christ and into witchcraft. Investigators say Wright admitted to a detective to striking David Johnson with a golf club after a confrontation. He was then booked into the Yakima County Jail.
