Mabton City Council hopeful nabbed by police

MABTON, Wash. -- A Mabton City Council hopeful is in jail tonight after being accused of violating an anti-harassment order. Police nabbed Freddie Perales earlier this week. Despite the arrest, Perales says he doesn't want it to get in the way of his goals.

"It poses problems because it still legally meaning, but there's way more to the stories than what I'm being labeled as. But hopefully we get this all straightened out. My goals are still for council, I want this, you know. This is on the personal side and the city has nothing to do with that. I still want to serve the community," said Perales.

KIMA learned Perales has faced several traffic violations in the past. But this is the first time he's been charged with a serious crime.
