Tamale shop in Union Gap receives distinguished James Beard Award
UNION GAP, Wash. - A local eatery serving up tamales is now a recipient of the prestigious James Beard award.
Los Hernandez Tamales in Union Gap was named one of only five restaurants in the United States honored for the 2018 America's Classics Award from the James Beard Foundation, according to a press release from the City of Union Gap.
The foundation unveiled their restaurant picks January 18.
The acclaimed chicken and pork tamales can be found at 3706 Main Street year-round, and customers can even get asparagus tamales during the warmer months, while the crop is in season.
