Locals gathered to honor those who have served
ZILLAH, Wash.- Hundreds of locals came together today to honor those who have served in the military.
Veterans Memorial of Zillah recognizes active and former U.S. military service members from all branches of service.
"We were paying honor to the veterans, men and women that are in the service. Especially to those who have given the ultimate sacrifice which we've got displayed on our monuments. Because on their service, we are here today and we can do this," said Gary Clark, Mayor of Zillah.
They also unveiled a memorial monument to honor local veterans who have served. The monument's design represents the 21 gun salute which is recognized as the highest military honor. The names of those local heroes lost in action are found on the 21 upright centennials.
