Local hospital accepted expired and unused medication
Several places in our area took part to provide safe disposal of prescriptions, including Memorial Cornerstone Hospital that accepted old and unused medications from the community.
Health experts say there's often confusion about whether old or unused medications should be thrown away.
For National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, people could drop off their unneeded medications to memorial cornerstone medicine to help protect the environment and prevent identify theft.
"If you are not getting rid of your private information safety, a lot of people can get access of your full name, your address, all of that information and what drugs you take. Secondly, it can get into our environment. So those medications will go into a landfill and eventually seep into our ecosystem and cause come problems," said Memorial Cornerstone Hospital Pharmacist Chuck Baluca.
If you didn't get a chance to drop of your old or unused prescriptions, you can dispose your medications at the Yakima Police Department and the Yakima County Sheriff's Office.
