Lance Nanamkin found dead

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Lance Nanamkin, who was accused of leading police on a high-speed chase and engaging officers in a shootout in 2011, has been found dead.

Authorities say Nanamkin was found just before 6 p.m. Thursday in an apartment he rented.

Yakima County Coroner Jack Hawkins says there are no indications of foul play in Nanamkin's death. He says an autopsy has been completed, but that he is waiting to determine a cause of death until he receives toxicology reports on Nanamkin. That could take six to eight weeks.

Nanamkin faced numerous charges in connection with the chase and shootout, but those charges were dropped last month after a mental evaluation found he was incompetent to stand trial. He had been hit six times, twice in the head, during the shootout and sustained traumatic brain injuries.
