Kittitas County deputies investigating body found in Columbia River

KITTITAS COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE NEWS RELEASE -- Detectives from the Kittitas County Sheriff's Office are investigating the body of an adult female found on the West Shore of the Columbia River Thursday morning and a set of human bones found Friday evening along the Swauk Creek, South-West of the Lauderdale Junction.

The female was spotted by a Grant County PUD employee along the shore of the Columbia River on the West Bar, about 20 miles North of the Vantage Bridge. The body, recovered by the Sheriff's Marine Patrol Unit, appeared to have been in the water 2 to 4 weeks. An autopsy was performed Friday morning and no obvious cause of death was observed. Samples will be submitted to the crime lab while Investigators research missing persons cases. In a separate case, a local resident reported finding human bones along the Swauk Creek near the Hidden Valley Ranch. Detectives are currently working the scene and interviewing residents in the area. The initial examination has provided no obvious cause of death and has provided no evidence as to the identity.
