Kids plan yard sale to help feed the hungry
YAKIMA, Wash. -- Two young sisters are looking forward to making a difference in their Yakima community this weekend.
Annabelle Goertler and Brittany Newman have spent weeks collecting items for people to buy at a yard sale.
People can come buy anything at the sale in exchange for canned goods.
It's happening Friday, Saturday and Sunday. From 8 a.m. until 6 p.m., they'll be at the Findery Floral on 48th Avenue.
All donations will go to Northwest Harvest.
"We went through a lot as a family, so we kind of know what it's like. So, we decided, 'Why not do something?'" Brittany Newman said.
Two years ago, they did the same thing and raised enough food to feed 3,000 families in Yakima County for three months.
