Junior League to donate almost $10K to local organizations

JUNIOR LEAGUE OF YAKIMA NEWS RELEASE -- A total of $9,555 was awarded eight local charitable, non-profit organizations that share the Junior League of Yakima's passion for improving the lives of women and children across the Yakima Valley. In addition to grant funds, the following organizations will also receive volunteer hours by Junior League members sometime over the next year.

Triple Double Basketball -$1000 - To support gym access to lower valley youth
Central Lutheran Church -$1000 - To support free computer lab access to area youth
Toppenish Gang Prevention - $2098 - For gang prevention education
Arboretum - $542 - To support the annual Arbor Day Event
Yakima Libraries - $1000 - To support free children events throughout the summer
Pegasus Project - $1163 - To assist with the purchase of new safety equipment
Union Gospel Mission - $1250 - To assist with the purchase of bedding materials
Grace Presbyterian Church - $1500 - To support free parenting classes

As an all volunteer organization, the Junior League of Yakima is dedicated to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving the community through effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. In additional to our volunteer activities and charitable giving, we also focus on the professional development of our members. Through ongoing training and member to member mentorship, we are able to increase the effectiveness of our collective service to the Community.
