Improvements coming for Yakima's Capitol Theatre

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Major improvements are on the way to Yakima's Capitol Theatre.

$300 thousand will be spent to upgrade safety and disability access, as well as general maintenance. There will also be improvements to stage lighting, the lobby elevator, and the main curtain. Locals think investing in this landmark will bring in more business.

"It puts Yakima on the map," said Napoleon Najera. "You know we're like central Washington, so we're kind of like in the middle of everything here in the state, so you know it brings a lot of different acts, a lot of different people in the valley."

This is a drop in the bucket for the improvements needed at the Capitol Theatre. Yakima is only giving what it can afford for next year's budget.
