Thursday's announcement didn't change that.
"I think it should be up to the individual states to be able to decide on what they want to do on the issue. I'd rather see people smoking marijuana than be out here drinking and driving," said Denis Kranz who lives in Yakima.
Jeff LaBrant told Action News, "I'm against it altogether. I've never used it, but the law is what it is. The people voted for it."
The announcement could pave the way for more states to legalize marijuana.
Alaska is scheduled to vote on it next year. A few other states plan similar votes in 2016.
