Hwy. 11 back open after deadly crash near Pendleton

NEAR PENDLETON, Ore. -- One man died in a crash Friday morning on Highway 11 near Pendleton, according to Oregon State Police.

The highway was closed all morning at milepost 20 while troopers investigated the crash.

Troopers said a pickup collided with a sedan when 77-year-old Vincent Torrier made a U-turn in front of the truck. Torrier was airlifted to St. Mary's Hospital in Walla Walla where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the pickup was not seriously hurt. Several others were treated for minor injuries.

Officials do not believe drug or alcohol played a role.
